Matinaze 97

A key case study for this research is Matinaze 97, an event organised by the Sydney Intermedia Network (SIN), and held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1997.  Whilst a regular forum for the exhibition of new work by Australian screen artists, this iteration of Matinaze is significant in the history of Australian media arts as the curators paid particular attention to  ‘interactive CD-ROM’ art as an emerging form of screen media, and promoted it as an event where “the  ‘grammar of experimental film’ will be complemented with the ‘language of interactivity’ “
